About the Role
We are looking for a US Stations Manager to join our Field Systems team, ensuring the performance, reliability, high availability, and expansion of our global network of weather instrumentation at airports worldwide. This role involves overseeing US station maintenance, managing service providers, supporting technical troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance.
Technical Support
Ensure critical sensor data is transferred accurately, reliably, and with high availability to cloud-based servers.
Provide expertise in the function, performance, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SureWx electro-mechanical-optical equipment and data collection systems.
Diagnose and deliver fast-turn solutions or workarounds during European hours.
Apply expertise to remote troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and upgrade activities.
Provide live support and detailed work instructions to remote service providers.
Analyze sensor and station performance, identify trends, predict issues, and implement mitigation actions.
Conduct end-to-end analyses for customer inquiries related to weather services.
Support operations as part of a global team.
Maintain knowledge of industry-leading weather sensors and related technology.
Utilize ticketing systems and knowledge base platforms to document, track, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Station Maintenance
Schedule and manage all maintenance and upgrade work efficiently, handling unexpected delays to keep programs on track.
Order and arrange shipments of parts and equipment for maintenance and urgent repairs.
Develop and improve maintenance procedures, training materials, and documentation.
Manage pre-seasonal work, including maintenance, component changes, hardware/software/firmware upgrades, remote calibrations, and bench testing of returned equipment.
Establish and manage a spare parts strategy to enable quick issue resolution during winter operations.
Build and test prototype upgrades and develop related documentation.
Maintain all station-related hardware, including inventory and records.
Track maintenance, repair, and calibration history for individual stations, sensors, and equipment.
Service Providers
Maintain contracts and build strong relationships with local service providers.
Source and train new service providers as needed to improve support and responsiveness.
New Installations
Conduct site selection analysis based on weather patterns, topography, and installation requirements.
Order equipment and provide logistical support for new installations.
Establish contracts with local service providers and develop training materials.
Oversee the startup of new installations, ensuring valid, reliable data transmission.
Qualifications & Experience
Strong technical skills with proven ability to maintain high-reliability systems.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience in maintenance best practices, plan development, and execution.
Strong troubleshooting skills with a creative approach to problem-solving in multidisciplinary systems.
Independent, resourceful, and persistent in identifying root causes and resolving issues.
Deep operational mindset and a commitment to high standards of operational excellence.
Solid understanding of instruments, schematics, wiring standards, AC/DC power, mechanical components, hardware standards, data communication, and remote data collection.
Experience managing contractors and suppliers effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, terminal emulators, knowledge base systems, and ticketing systems (such as Confluence and Jira).
US citizenship preferred to facilitate equipment management and shipments
Willingness to travel as needed (travel expenses covered by the company).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
7+ years of experience in progressively responsible technical roles.
Experience in aviation, weather, or environmental monitoring industries is an asset.
